How to join our Campfire group
Campfire is Niantic's official social app for Pokémon GO players. In Menorca it is the community's main place for communication and organisation, especially for meetups. This website is the companion: it gives you its own tools (map, goals, Pokédex, collection…) and shows you upcoming meetups, but to join and take part we send you to Campfire.
If you have never used it, there are three steps.
Step 1 · Install Campfire
Download Niantic Campfire from your phone's store: App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android).
When you open it, sign in with the same Niantic ID you use in Pokémon GO and link your Pokémon GO account. That connects your profiles and shows you a map with nearby raids.
You can also open Campfire from inside Pokémon GO: on the game map, tap the green Campfire icon.
Step 2 · Tap the group link
Open this link on the phone where Campfire is installed:
Join the Pokémon GO Menorca Campfire
It is the same link as the "Join the island's Campfire" block on the website's home page, in case you need it later.
Step 3 · Join
Campfire opens on the Pokémon GO Menorca Oficial group page. Tap to join and you are in.
If the link does not open the app, make sure it is installed and tap it again.
The group's channels
We tried to keep it simple: few channels, each with its own purpose.
- 📢 Anuncios (Announcements) — Official community notices. Only admins and moderators post, so there is no noise: if something important happens, it happens here. Worth keeping its notifications on.
- 👋 Bienvenida (Welcome) — Introduce yourself: tell us who you are, which part of the island you are from and what you like about Pokémon GO. It is the best way to meet people.
- 💬 General — Free conversation about Pokémon GO and the community.
- ⚔️ Incursiones (Raids) — To organise spur-of-the-moment raids, flag nearby raids and find players. When you have nobody for a boss, write here.
- 🔄 Intercambios (Trades) — To look for and offer trades between Menorca players. To know what you need before asking, check your Pokédex and the website's Trades tool, which works it out for you.
- 🌍 International — For visitors to Menorca and international players who prefer to communicate in English.
If a channel grows a lot and needs splitting (for example Trades → Vivillon), new channels will be created according to what the community needs. We do not want to fill the group with empty channels.
A tip: mentions
In any text channel you can type @ followed by a name to mention someone and send them a notification.
Meetups: they use Campfire Meetups
Meetups do not have their own channel: they are created as Campfire Meetups, the main system for organising and managing them.
How to sign up
- Open the group and go into Meetups, or see upcoming ones on the website under Meetups and the events calendar.
- Tap the meetup and press Join Meetup (RSVP) to say you are going.
- For official meetups the website first asks you to "Join on Campfire" and only then lets you confirm attendance here. That way the organiser knows how many people are coming.
On the day: check-in
- Go to the place. Check-in opens 15 minutes before the start time.
- When you are there, the blue Join Meetup button turns into a green Check In button. Tap it.
Reward
Official meetups by a Pokémon GO Community Ambassador carry a purple star and, if they give a reward, a Rewards icon. When you check in to one:
- You get a notification in Pokémon GO confirming you are eligible for a Timed Research.
- Claim the first 500 XP within 1 hour of checking in; otherwise you will not get the full research.
- You can only receive it once per day.
- Child accounts cannot access it.
What it contains depends on the event type (Community Day, Max Battles…) and is shown in "What's Happening Now".
Extras you will find useful
Adding friends
In Pokémon GO you need to be friends with someone to receive their remote raid invitation or trade with them. Tap their profile (from a text channel or the member list) and press Add Friend. The request shows as Pending until they accept, and adding them makes them a Niantic Friend across all Niantic apps, Pokémon GO included.
Matchmade raids (Team Up)
Besides the Raids channel, Campfire has its own matchmaker, Team Up, which pairs you with nearby trainers (up to five players).
- Open Campfire and tap Team Up.
- Join a Raid to join a group (choose Join Raid or Pass), or Host a Raid to start your own: pick the boss of a nearby raid and press Go.
- The host sends friend requests; accepting them gets you the in-game invitation. When everyone has accepted, go back to Pokémon GO and press GO TO RAID.
Before you go, check on the website which of your Pokémon to bring.
Direct messages
Tap Messages on the bottom bar. Direct messages are with your friends; group ones take up to 10 more people. Someone who is not your friend sends a request that you approve, and you can turn requests off in your profile settings.
Notifications
In your profile, tap the gear and open Notifications. Campfire sends a push when you receive an invitation, a meetup is created in your communities or one is about to start. We recommend leaving them on.
Safety and privacy
- Sharing your location is optional: nobody sees it unless you want them to.
- You can block and report from a chat or a post that breaks Niantic's rules.
- At meetups: meet in public places, tell someone where you are going and do not share personal details.
Common problems
- No check-in button: be at the place and 15 minutes or less before the start.
- No research received: only an official meetup with the Rewards icon gives it, once a day, and child accounts do not receive it.
- More help: the Campfire Help Center and in-game support.
Ready? Join the group now and tell us who you are in 👋 Bienvenida.
